Nature

Ponte de Lima is beautifully situated close to nature. Mountains and forests surround the town. The area is very green and calm. The Lima river flows through the center of Ponte de Lima. Just east of the town, the big national park starts and continues into Spain. Twenty kilometers west of the city the sandy beaches that cover the coastline, take over.

There are good possibilities for hiking in the surroundings of Ponte de Lima. Numerous paths and small roads offer excellent opportunities to walk through the fields, forests, mountains and/or along rivers. If you prefer, it is also possible to meet the fascinating nature of northern Portugal on a bike, canoe, or horse.

The Portuguese way of the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela passes through Ponte de Lima. We recommend this walk that could start in Lisbon or Porto if you want an adventure. Which starting point you choose depends on how tuff an adventure you want.
